MCKNIGHT VETERINARY HOSPITAL IS NOW FOCUSING ON PREVENTATIVE CARE AS A GENERAL PRACTICE.
Spaying and neutering aids in population control, behaviour management, and lowering health risks.
Neutering or spaying your pet is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. By neutering your boy, you are reducing his interest in escaping out of the house, spraying, smelly urine and testicular cancer. Spaying your cat will prevent her from repeated heat cycles, pyometra (infection of the uterus) and reduce the chance of mammary tumors. These procedures are performed routinely and help to control to cat population.
Spaying is the procedure where the doctor removes the female reproductive organs. Neutering is the procedure where the doctor removes the male cats’ testicles.
We recommend to spay or neuter around 6 months of age.
