MCKNIGHT VETERINARY HOSPITAL IS NOW FOCUSING ON PREVENTATIVE CARE AS A GENERAL PRACTICE.
A comprehensive checkup of your dog to ensure they remain happy and healthy.
Urinalysis and Fecal Exams can be an essential part of diagnosing or helping to diagnose disease processes in your pet. A Urinalysis will help to determine if your dog has a bladder infection, bladder stones, diabetes and will also indicate how well the kidneys are functioning by telling us how concentrated the urine is. Fecal examinations will indicate if your pup has any intestinal parasites.
Fecal examinations are recommended to see if your dog has contracted any intestinal parasites. Intestinal parasites can be contracted from other animals’ feces or contact with rodents or other wildlife. It can become a health and safety problem if we do not wash our hands thoroughly or when we have small children. The yearly fecal will help us determine if your dog has any parasites and let us know what medicine is best to treat them with.
When a dog has a urinary tract infection, it is best to send a sample for a culture. The culture will provide the type of infection and the best medication to resolve it. Your dog will be on antibiotics and once finished the antibiotics; we recommend to recheck the urine to ensure the infection has been resolved.
